So how did this turn out? (New guy's first post)

So how did this turn out? (New guy's first post)

Now generally speaking, I just come to this site for the tabs, but I decided to pop in to the forums and have a look around. Long story short, I think the whole idea behind the recording and critiquing board is awesome. So I grab my crappy Radioshack mic and gave it a go. Please tell me what you guys think about this:

Apparently the program to use around here is Cooledit. I used n-Track studio to record this one, and as soon as I can acquire  that I'll give it a go. From some of the posts here it can apparently do some spiffy noise reduction and compressor type effects that I have no idea whatsoever how to use in n-Track.

As an added bonus and insight into just how professional  I can be, here's me trying to cover LBV by singing into my iPac :D Please be merciful.

I'm curious as to what people think of this and I'm eager to give cooledit a try since people seem keen on it.

[Edited to change the links to their new home at angelfire, downloads are many times faster now.]

Okay.. it's hit 20 views now and nobody's said anything.. I am officially extremely self-conscious now.
Even if you have absolutely nothing to say about it, could somebody at least confirm for me that the webserver is doing it's job and that you can actually download the mp3?

it was incredibly slow for me...don't know what was up.

try to save the Wav file as an mp3. that'll make the second one faster...stopped bothering after a bit.

anyway, i think you did an all right job overall. welcome to the boards, at least! ;)

guitar work seemed pretty solid from what i could hear. vocals could use a little work, but i think it's something you constantly improve on anyway. just keep at it...looking forward to hearing more, if it doesn't take as long next time. ;)

guitar is a little sloppy but i like your voice pretty unique, keep working on it man and welcome to the boards...

And we see faces walking back
Tonight everybody gonna remember

Thanks for the feedback guys I really appreciate it. I'll try and work on something more impressive for my next go (when I give Cooledit a whirl). In the meantime, since it's apparent that my poor DSL connect doesn't have sufficient outgoing bandwith, I set up an angelfire account.

Hopefully this will actually be usable now (technically, my DSL connect should have around 15KB/sec outgoing, but it tends to fluxuate something aweful. Maybe I can try something really kookie like bittorrents next time.)
