---->BEST PRICE ON MARTIN D-35/HD-35?????????????????????

Unread post by sticksANDstrings » Sun Jul 27, 2003 2:07 pm

Where's the best place to get the ABSOLUTE LOWEST price on a brand new Martin? I'm leaning towards a D-35 but i'm also considering an HD-35. What's the major difference between the two anyways (besides the price)? What effect does the herringbone have on the HD-35 over the D-35, if any?

I've got an HD-35 and my dad has a D-35 and the HD-35 absolutely smokes the D-35. The bracing is thinner on the HD-35 and combined with the three piece back, the thing is just a rocket. They also select the better wood for the HD's over the standard D's. I'm not sure what else they do, but overall, the HD-35 smokes the D-35 and is absolutely worth the extra money. For the best price, there's only one place to go...

The current Musician's Friend price on the:
Martin HD-35 Acoustic Guitar (#514758)
is $1,999.99 from a manufacturer's list price of $3,349.00

not $1900...ten bucks cheaper than Elderly, but if you have problems, Elderly will take care of you forever. They're the number Martin dealer in the world and by far the most solid guitar store around.

It may have been said before, but could you guys actually spend that much money online for a guitar you've never played before? Obviously, any Martin HD35 is gonna sound the shit, but I think I would have to hear the guitar that I'll own.

Have you guys ordered a guitar online before? I'm asking because I intend to buy a great Martin soon, but the pickin's is slim in Omaha as far as dealers go.

I bought my HD-35 from http://www.music123.com for $1999.99
As for the online buying thing, I was pretty concerned about this too.
The only reason I considered buying it online was because there was no way I could find an HD-35 in london for that price.
I ended up playing as many HD-35's as I could get my hands on. I was pretty satisfied with every single one I tried. Then I made sure that they had a very good return policy. Which they do.
So I went for it and I don't regret it.... Saved some cash and I have a seriously hot guitar. I love it! Go get one now!

yeah, personally, I wouldn't buy a guitar online, but I live an hour and a half away from one of the biggest and probably the best acoustic guitar store in the world in elderly instruments, so I'm just lucky. but yeah, I'd go with what trippin said on this one as well...

I bought my D-15 from Musicians Friend. Saved a shitload of dinero, a 4.5+ hour drive to the nearest good guitar store, and the guitar was in perfect condition and sounds great.

For all the guys who played/own a Martin HD-35, have you ever compared it to an HD-28/HD-28V? I stopped by Guitar Center the other day and played all 3 numerous times:

I liked the HD-28V the most, it had exceptional response when strumming, far superior to the HD-35....only thing I didn't like was the V neck.....
The HD-35 came in next...finger picking songs on that guitar was a dream, far superior to the HD-28...
The HD-28 just sounded dead compared to the two, which kind of bothered me. I was seriously considering buying the HD-28 model, but after playing those two I just don't know what to say. Any thoughts?

When I was shoping for my Martin I did much price research when I decided on the model I wanted. I believe Musciansfriend had the lowest price. I took this price to my local music store who I greatly trusted and they agreed to match that price. Just an idea if you do not want to mail order direct from warehouse.
