as it's based off of D, start there, think about other songs in D...you can fake just about anything...think about how WAYG and GIG are played...dink around with that sorta thing.

which jam section. I assume you mean the long (mellow) jam. if so than maybe try playing the full chords in first position to make it more full sounding. D, C#m, Bm, G, A...... Em, Bm, A, D/F#, G and if you want to add character like you said, try playing suspenstions of the chords above like add9s or add4s on the major chords and minor7s on the minor chords. I dunno, experiment with it. hope this helps. if you have any other questions just keep me posted (parden the pun)
good, and you?

I may redo it with the new pickup. This one was done with a PC mic...

I had to jump out of bed last night because I had an idea and had to try it...

I played the LIOG jam that you're talking about, but finger picked it the whole time w/the open D string as well. It sounded great. Maybe I'll toss a clip up. Give it a shot. I tried a couple patterns until one sounded nice.
Peace,

Stunt

yeah this jam can be played many different ways, like someone said, with the regular open chords, and many variations, and it sounds super sweet.
