new guy-original song

Unread post by isaac » Sun Jun 29, 2003 2:27 am

hey everyone! uh...<- obviously my name's isaac. *chuckles* i've been lurking these forums for a while, and ya'll seem like friendly people so i decided to drop by and also share an original song that i wrote a couple hours ago for my girlfriend...erm..."girlfriend." heh. anyway, i've finally mustered up enough courage to post, and i'm wary 'bout my vocals, but ah well.

it's a simple song, so i didn't devote too much time to the recording, so quality is decent, but there are times when my mic went a little goofy, or my computer did something bad. hehe.

anyway, hope to get to know you all better, and thanks ahead for taking the time to take a gander at the song. not sure how much bandwidth my isp'll let me use, so i'll leave this up for as long as i can! phew, i'm done!

fog in the light

lyrics- in case you can't understand what the hell i'm saying -

upon the hazy blue color of this light of love
i found you resting your eyes from the daylight
and in this captured moment of bittersweet reflection
i touched your face and slipped into it's shadows

and far i traveled for some way to lose haste
this solace i found inside of you
and for a time we fell up into the sun
only to drop through the broken clouds

and the people with etched faces and edged places
all seem so washed out
and you with your fire strong, that lingering smile, and your laughter
you sail away
you fall away

unspoken words are the words of the day
it's an unseen step before you hit bottom
my fingertips linger in spaces i can't reach
your eyes are lost inside of the fog

and for you i stumble and i wearily call
but you're chasing heads
and you're making tales
and for you i'd press my lips to mountain peaks
just to speak of things that you've passed with time

and the people with their stars that have all gone
and faded out
and you with your fire flickering, that lost smile, and your banter
you sail away
slide so far away

and the people with their arms open wide
are holding out
and you, with your fire gone, that forgotten smile and your laughter
you sail away
you're so far away

you've gone off and sailed away
out on the open seas
you've gone off and sailed away
sailed away from me

Great man! :D

I absolutely love originals man ;)

thr guitar work is cool and interesting...the vocals need some work in the sense that you sound like a whisper...I understand that is the type of song, but even when David Grohl (sp? Foo Fighters/Nirvana) sings those kinda songs, he has an edgy clarity...all I can say imo would be to be a little more clear and don't whisper as much :)

I like it alot...beautiful guitar structure...nice melody, just pronouce you voice a little more ;)

kudos on a chill song...

hope to hear more soon 8)

:) yay! a reply. *chuckles*

thanks a bunch for taking a look. i'm going back today to rerecord the vocals, and i'll give it another shot. :) i get the whole whispery vocals thing a lot, and it sounds fine while i'm singing it, but it always comes out like bleh. ;) so, i'm working on it.

anyway, thanks again, and i'm glad ya enjoyed it.

erm: quick question- any Grohl songs ya can point out so i can give a listen?

what kind of mic you got? besides the whisper, the voice sounds kind of metallic. other than that, it sounded pretty cool. keep em coming!

same as everyone else! a crappy computer mic. ;) the reason it sounds metallic and sort of hard to hear was the hiss was so bad i had to do quite a bit of hiss reduction. i'll see if i can work it out so that there's less quality reduction when eliminating it.

edit:
firedancer86 i checked out Walking After You...i can see what ya mean. :) thanks for the recommendation.

I like it, the guitar part is smooth, soothing and very nice. Though I agree with firedancer that you whisper a little too much when you sing...

But, a great song. Keep 'em coming!

it sucks being stuck with a computer mic, I have the same problem :D

sounds nice, really good guitar kinda james taylor soft classical type music. The vocals sound nice but sometimes they are a little hard to understand(i shouldnt say anything though, im probably the least understandable singer on this site) anyways, sounds good, keep it up. :)
