Just Bought This guitar Yesterday

Unread post by dmfollower » Wed Jun 25, 2003 6:20 pm

So i bought this really nice looking, and sounding guitar yesterday but i haven't heard very good things about it. It's a Johnson JH-440. Its a hollow body vintage jazz like guitar, i don't have much guitar knowledge. It looks and sounds amazing, i mean i have it sitting in my guitar stand and it looks soo good like it shouldn't be mine you know? anyway, i looked up Johnson on the net and found that they make a lot of really cheap acoustics and also really expensive electrics. i finally found mine and it retailed at like $700 but i bought it for $250!! Does anyone have anything to say about this brand. i've been told it was a waste but i am soo happy with it and it sounds better than any guitar i've played. For $250 i had to get it.

if you like it that much and it cost so little, then hell yes it was worth it! why is everybody so hung up on brand names anyway? if you like the guitar then whats the name on the headstock have to do with anything?

to repeat jack, go with what works for you...Johnson is a junior company, but they may have some nicer "higher grade" guitars...Epiphone has SOME nice guitars and they are a junior company...hey...if you like it, and it sounds good, who cares what it is

hey guys, thanks for the replies. i wasn't ever too hung up on what the name on the guitar is, i was just worried about its structure and sound lasting long enough for the money. i have to say that it is a "pretty" guitar. i'll have to put the web address up here so everyone can see it.

Hey man

I have a Johnson..its a cheaper model. A blue Acoustic Electric JG620 CELB and it is an absolute piece of shit. It sounds great for the price i paid (brand new $130) but the neck has a huge crack in it. Right below the headstock it goes horizontal all the way across the neck. I took it to my shop and the owner told me he had a kid come in with a Johnson and the headstock flew off and he was trying to repair it. He told me that in about a month or two my headstock will fly off too. I dont know if its just that model or not...but i'm pretty sure Johnson isn't reliable. I wouldn't spend more than 300 on one. Good pick up you got for 250 though i bet. but watch out!

ok, well here is the link and i don't know what happened but when i went to the site earlier it said it was retailed at $695 and then i found another site that was selling it for $895 but now its on sell for like $395. i don't think that site is the official johnson website but they have dropped the price quite a bit. here it is, this is the exact model and color of mine:

http://www.musiclinkcorp.com/fretted/hol_guit_4.html

i don't know what to say because before i bought the guitar i went to a bunch of sites that were selling cheap ass acoustic/electrics for for like $150 bucks and i wasn't going to buy it but then i found another site that showed a large collection of custom electrics and then i found the one i was going to get. all i know is this guitar sounds great and its beautiful. i just hope it lasts.
please no extreme bashing of opinions
