Jazz Guitar
Does anyone know much about this. I was thinking on an electric basis. I've been listening through some jazz stuff and I am starting to get hooked on it, it's something I really want to do. Problem is my friends dad can give me lessons, which isn't a problem, but he charges like 300 dollars of more for like 8 months of once a week lessons. I could get lessons someplace else that would be cheaper but this guy is seriously awesome at guitar, and I want lessons from the best ^^. I've been playing along with some Steely Dan widening my chord vocabulary, and such. I was just wondering if any of you had any suggestions.

Jazz is a pretty involved style and I think you would benefit greatly by taking lessons. Those lessons seem really reasonablely priced too... almost too reasonable. Most teachers are charging at least 3x that. Like 50 or 60 buck an hour. That comes out to around $1900. Sounds like you should jump at the opportunity.

I love jazz, although I know little about the sytle in which it is played. Yeh I guess the lessons are pretty reaonanable, I just have no money, and my parents don't want to have to pay for it. I'll get a job and scrape together some cash over the summer.

LISTEN TO ALOT OF JAZZ
PLAY ALOT OF JAZZ
try dl'n some Pat Metheny and see what you think of jazz after hearing him play...the guy taught Jazz thoery at school when he was like 17

yeah pat metheny is a badass. not only is he a great guitarist, but an amazing composer.
if you really want to get into some classic jazz, you have to go far back (Wes Montgomery, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillispie, Thelonious Monk, and of course Miles Davis) while only one of these people plays guitar, listening to the others will help if you want to appreciate jazz.
