Cleartone strings: I picked up a set last week (mediums)and played them live for the first time at a show Friday night. I'm honestly not sure what my opinion of them is yet, I can't make up my mind. But, I'm curious as to what others think of them. Are they the next Elixir? an alternative maybe? hate em, like em? I'm curious...

There is a hands on review on musiciansfriend that gives you an idea of what they are like. They look pretty sweet and are affordable, Ill pick up a set next time I see them.

I work at long & mcquade music store and have recently stumbled upon these strings.
Larrivees used to ship with Elixir Nanoweb, which are my favorite string for the feel and sound. They have recently switched to Cleartones and I am very upset. They fell more like a regular string; I like the feel of coated so that bugs me. The sound however is the worst part, in my opinion they sound much more dead and not as crisp as the Elixirs.
Just my opinion though.

Well, after a week of playing these (today) I've decided I'm not a huge fan, and no, they won't make me switch from other coated strings just because of the feel. Yes, they do feel like regular strings. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between these and a regular set. They are there, but they are very subtle. However, the tone is what I'm worried about and the Cleartones simply don't have the punch or clarity they claim they do. The first five strings on my guitar sound much like any other set should, but the low E sounds like a clothesline with relatively no sparkle or punch to the attack. They really don't sound like phoshor bronze. In fact they remind me more of a set of your run of the mill 5$ martin stings that don't lose their life quite as fast. But, the low E never sounded good on these. Dissapointing. Interested in what others are experiencing.

And for those interested, I'm playing a Larrivee D-03E and the strings are medium phosphor bronze.
