1 year guitar of experience, look for tips and feedback

Unread post by roofingboom » Mon Aug 14, 2006 12:10 am

First lets start with me i am 23 and hae just a little over a year of guitar playing expereince under my belt. I really enjoy it and wish i could have started when i was younger. Here are two videos of some of me "attemping" to play some dave songs. i am really bad at rythm so tips to do with that would be great. i have no music theory expereince.
on my attept to do stone i still am having a little trouble with that 16th note riff part , its just so quick and precise.

not whole song just a little part of grey street i did. i have a hard time remembering lyrics so i have to read them while i attempt to sing making the whole process of trying to play te guitar more difficult

have a look please and i would apperciate and tips and feedback for a very beginer guitar player. ie maybe like practice techniques? thanks all

looked at the videos and not bad. Looks like your rhythm problem is that your trying too much at once and rushing things. I'd focus on just playing the guitar for a while (scales, chord progression, random notes, ...)and paying very close attention to staying on time. This really goes for all your practice session.. pick something specific to focus on. Some things just take a lot of repetition. Oh, play grey street using all four fingers on your left hand, not that it matters much, but it will help develop you for other songs. I've been at the self taught thing for 2.5 years... take some lessons..
