Required to make videos

Unread post by Hydro120 » Sat Jun 03, 2006 3:20 pm

I will close this when I get the answer.

What is the minimum required to take videos I record on my camcorder and put them on my computer for uploading?

minumum what?

If you are doing DV, make you you put them through Windows movie maker and shrink them down to a decent size. 25-50 MB.

I have no idea what you are asking. Maximum?

I don't know the answer, but I think he's askin' what he needs (to do) to get movies from his camcorder to the internet, he can correct me if I'm wrong.

And can I just say, Jason, that the pic in your sig. cracks me up nearly every time I see it.

Uh...yeah....maybe "get movies I record on my video camera to my computer so I can upload them" wasn't quite clear.

What I want to know is how can I "get movies I record on my video camera to my computer so I can upload them"?

What is the minimum (hardware and software) I will need? What can I cheaply get away with, and what would cost me a fortune but produce outstanding quality?

Maybe I don't know exactly what to ask because I'm new to this stuff.

edit: By the way, what the does "doing a DV" mean?

First, what type of camera are you using? (Specs and/or link)

I couldn't find the model on the site (it's kind of old), but it's a JVC GR-AX72. It connects to television via normal A/V cables. It records to a VHS-C cassette.

Edit: this is the closest I could find. It's basically the next model number up. Looks pretty much the same. link

Go to ciruit city, CompUsa, BestBuy. They have fairly inexpensive ways to capture analog video to PC. All you need to get is a converter box [Check the brand name Dazzle] Some could be as low as $30 up to $100.

I have a DV camcorder. It means digital video.
