John Butler Tabs for ya...

Unread post by Teego Time » Sat May 20, 2006 4:50 pm

So I'm not the biggest fan of retuning my guitar every time I want to play a song, so I usually try to find comprable alternatives in standard tuning. Here's a few I made for John Butler's What You Want, and Seeing Angels.

Code: Select all

John Butler
What You Want – Standard Version
Tuning: E A D G B e

-It’s a little dumbed down, but you can definitely play with the song here.

Intro/verse:
|--x----7---------
|--3----8----8/7--
|--0----x----4----
|--2----9----5----
|--3----0----7----
|--3---------0----

OR

|--x----7----3/2--
|--3----8----x----
|--0----x----0----
|--2----9----2----
|--3----0----2----
|--3---------0----

Guitar Lick 1 – It’s not entirely correct, but you’ll get the hang of it.

|----------------------------------------------------
|------------------------1------------------------3--
|-------0----------------0------------------------0--
|--0h2-----2/4/5\4\2--------0h2-----2/4/5\4\2--------
|--3------------------3-----3------------------3-----
|----------------------------------------------------

Guitar Lick 2 – Not quite sure about the last chord here.

|-------------------2--
|------------0h5p0—-3--
|-------0h2---------0--
|--0h2--------------0--
|-------------------3--
|----------------------

Code: Select all

John Butler
Seeing Angels – Standard Version
Tuning: E A D G B e

Capo: 1st Fret – Notes Relative

-The X’s represent palm strikes – you can make that noise while still striking the note. It’s tough but you can do it.

-I also didn’t include any variation because there’s a lot of it. Come up with your own stuff there.

Verse:
|-------x-----------3-x-2p0-----
|-----3-x-0--------3—-x------3--
|----4—-x----x----0---x---------
|---4---x----x--------x------x--
|--2----x-0—-0--------x------x--
|-------x----x-2-3----x------x--

Chorus:
|----------------------3--
|----3—----3-----3-----3--
|----2—----2-----2-----0--
|--0-0—----x-----x-----0--
|----0—--4-4---2-2-----x--
|--------------------3-3—-

-You can strum these chords, but I choose to pick them and add in some variations. They give you just the basic chords that he’s working with. Oh and the thing in the middle is what I believe is coming off the banjo, but you can play it on your guitar. Just remember that it gets really intense before you go to chorus so try to transition back to G before you hit the chorus.

Second Pre-chorus thing:
|--0—--3--	|---------	|--3--
|--0---3--	|--3---3—-	|--3--
|--0---0—- x2|--4---4--	|--0-- End
|--2---0--	|--2---0--	|--0-- On
|--2---x--	|---------	|--x--
|--0---3--	|--0---3--	|--3—

-Here it just sounds like a lot of variation of the A and Em chords. All I can say is experiment with stuff that may sound good!

End of song:
|------0
|--2---0
|--2---0
|--2---2
|--0---2
|------0

the vaginal fluid they are secreting is the same composition of urine minus the uric acid and phosphorous. i learned that in 11th grade anatomy. btw, sometimes it does have a FAINT smell of Pizzle.
