Caribbean cruise getaway
just wondering if anyone from the boards went on the trip. I went with my family and it was certainly amazing. also wondering if there are any recordings from it, though i doubt it.

argh I live on campus and the network wont let bit torrent work... I will have to wait until I am back at home to get those shows, thats too bad... oh well class is done in a day or two.
but alright ill post a lil summary... pretty interesting as far as the beginning is concerned.
I went with my mom, dad and my sister, and we all got tickets for the same room on the sovereign of the seas so it was going to be cramped. Anyway, my sister drove down from her college to mine to spend the night, and then we would drive to the airport for a flight down to Orlando where my parents were staying to pick us up the day of the cruise. We missed the flight out of rochester airport, and had to wait for a later flight. Ended up spending the night in the atlanta airport because we missed the latest flight to orlando from there because of it.
Anyway, after the debacle and ending up in orlando we got all the stuff ready and loaded into a taxi for the trip to the seaport. We get there, and theres a fairly large line already congregating in a strange location on the side of the building. We walk in, go up the escalator, and somehow surpass all these people on line as we got checked into the boat at like 12:30 PM.
After finding the room and unloading all the crap, decided to hop up on the deck and see what was happening. Prior to 1 PM we were all enjoying some beers/mixed drinks of all kinds. It was a wonderful start to a glorious vacation.
That night when we went to dinner, we sat with a lovely couple who were journalists or something from Penn state, and the bassist for Ozomatli (check out the modulus website) and his date or whatever, they were all very nice and the atmosphere was so friendly. Afer dinner I went to see Bob Weir and ratdog play, they were absolutely amazing, and all the while fraternizing with people who were in as much love with dave as i was.
Anyway, the next day was intense, energy was high, everyone was pumped. Woke up late so didnt enjoy the morning but was still wonderful all day. We had to dock in nassau and get onto different ferry boats that took us to the island to see the concert. It was incredibly difficult to get beers there, which was a minus, but it didnt matter. Anyway, he came on and it was a glorious show. It started drizzling lightly after all of dave and friends took stage, and after a few songs the winds changed and it started raining heavy. Sound crew were all over the stage trying to save the electronics. One guy was manually holding up a tarp trying to make a wall so that the keyboards wouldnt fry. It got pretty bad and Dave was about to do Some Devil so that they could figure out something with other equipment, except something popped, either his guitar or the mic or something... he ran off stage.
Long story short, after the rain subsided they came back on and played some really great songs, Id say most notable songs of the whole show were dodo, too much, tim did some cool shit in dancing nancies, but that wasnt the end of it. Everyone left to get back on the ferry to get back on the boat, soaking wet and freezing cold, and after showers and a change of clothes. Rumor spreads like wildfire, dave is going to be on the boat?! Oh jeez run to the theater!! We had nice seats for that and they did a badass set with bob weir on a few songs... will it go round in circles and up on cripple creek were amazing. grey blue eyes was possibly the best song of the night in my opinion. (dont want to talk about the gambling afterwards
)
After that night, the next day they played dmb cds for quite a few hours in a row on the deck, and it was superbowl sunday so that was exciting, not a football fan so I went to see michael tollcher at a bar thing. It was pretty good and the bassist was amazing, and I enjoyed the last night getting as thoroughly wasted as possible. The next morning was bittersweet as we had to leave, but we spent all morning enjoying the deck and food and everything.
For people who have never taken a cruise, it is so amazing because people cater to your every whim and fantasy and nothing is put on you to make you really feel like you are on vacation. I would recommend it to everyone who can find the means, especially if you are going to get to see dave in the process.
Hmm a little bit long winded, oh well it was a great time.
