Stand up for it and help me

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Stand up for it and help me

Unread post by djvt81 » Sat Dec 31, 2005 2:03 pm

ok i've been stumbling around with this riff for far too long.

Gianni's version is helpful but if there was a slowed down version like pat does in his videos it would be more helpful.

It just seems like there is more to the riff than the tab on the boards indicates. Isn't there any hammer ons or pull offs?

Any pointers would be helpful

sorry about the double post I obviously am new at this board thing

thank you
dj

I think the one on the site is wrong: i tabbed it out myself after listening to many versions. try playing my versions of the tab:

Intro/Verse Riff:

e--------------------|
b--------------------|
g--------------------|
d----5-3-2-0--------|
a------------33-55--|
E-3------------------|

just play it slowing and speed it up once you get the pattern

Man, this song bothers people a lot but I like learned it just when Stand Up came out.

The riff goes something like this...

e--------------------|
b--------------------|
g---0---------------|
d------3p2p0-------|
a--------------3h5--|
E-3------------------|

The tab on this site also has the verse wrong, it really should go like...

e------------------------|
b------------------------|
g----4----5---6-----5---|
d-------------------------|
a-5-----5----5----5------|
E-3-----3----3----3------|

The interlude on the site is right though.

Its not actually whats right or wrong, its just the way I play it and I'm sure the way it is on the site is the way others play it.

Code: Select all

intro/verse
E:--------------------------
B:--------------------------
G:--------------------------
D:-----5--3-2---------------
A:-------------5-3h5--3-----
E:--3-----------------------

verse when not playing funky part
E:--------------------------
B:--------------------------
G:---4-----5-----6-----5----
D:---X-----X-----X-----X----
A:---2-----3-----4-----3----
E:--------------------------
Also sometimes just plays a G (3 on E) without the funk part after during break downs.
