My first ever completely original song.

Unread post by BenPezzner » Sat Dec 03, 2005 9:03 pm

I actually made this recording, along with another one, about 3 months ago for my girlfriend at the time. She had broken up with me a week before so I never posted these because they were kinda personal. But I think enough time has passed now for me to be able to share them.

This one is called Two Souls, and starts with a Pezznerified version of the Dream Girl intro. It has a piano track, and the percussion is a mixture of me beatboxing with sampled drums in the background. Towards the end of the song is my flute debut here at dmbtabs.

If you like this one then I'll post the other one.

I really like the piano track, and I liked how you used alot of layers in the song. In my opinion, your vocals could use some work. Particularly staying on key and your voice lacks confidence. Should fix itself with practice.
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later.

I like it alot. The chorus with the recurring layered vocal parts brings the mood to a different direction, which is cool. A few off key parts, but they were minor.

I always love your stuff, dude, good job!

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.

Great Stuff man. I absolutely love the piano, its fantastic. The drums are great too, the bass drum is a little overwhelming at times, but that could be my sub. Also, the second "yeah" of your vocal track seems a bit off to me, but that could just be my preference.

As far as vocals go, I agree with horsmar15, its not that they are bad, they just seem unconfident and lacking a little power, perhaps boost the volume a litte, add some reverb, (instead of delay), though if you want to keep the delay try to get it so it repeats at the same tempo of the song. I use a dd-6 on my vocals live sometimes because it has a footswitch that you can tap the tempo with a la howie day. It seems to be effective

Overall its excellent, keep it up!
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?
