So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Dreaming Tree Correction

Unread post by Nitro1515 » Tue Oct 11, 2005 9:51 pm

This:

Code: Select all

Fill

This is played in between verses

E:----------------
B:-6-------6-5-6-- <---2on6(1on5)
G:-7-------7-7-7-- <---4
D:-7-------7-7-7-- <---3
A:----------------
E:----------------
Should be this:

Code: Select all

E:-5--0-----------
B:-6--6-----------
G:-7--7------------
D:-5--5------------
A:-5--5-------------
E:----------------
Dave alternates between these two chords very quickly with a weird timing, so listen closely to hear how he plays it. Big thanks to Jason (jellyfish) for hosting that Dreaming Tree video on his site which gave me a clear view of what Dave was doing here.

actually.....i'm gonna disagree a little bit.

i think it's a mix of both tabs.

Code: Select all

E:-5--0-----------
B:-6--6-----------
G:-7--7------------
D:-x--x------------
A:-5--5-------------
E:----------------
i don't think the G should be in there. so really its the same as the first tab just without the 7 on the D string and with a D bass note put in there.

Yeah that looks right, but its pretty different from the original tab especially because you got to bar and then pull off the 5 on the high E pretty quickly.

True, gives it a little better sound though.

Same here, I could never get that to sound right. It was nice to get a good quality video of it, because the other one I had is from '99 and you can't tell what Dave's doing.

Well the tab I had gotten was from the '99 Hartford show(2nd night...I was 3rd row for that one!!!) and I was pretty sure he was playing that there. Anyway, I'll take a look and add it as an alternative tab. Anyone have the '99 show that they want to take a look at? I don't have it in the city with me

I got the 7.17.99 video from the Gorge and he is playing something different from what I see in the 2003 video. Its still kinda hard to make out but it looks like what you got on the site. So I guess he has just changed it up a bit over the years.
