slow-mo video?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

slow-mo video?

Unread post by jclark » Mon Nov 04, 2002 9:02 pm

Hello all,

I’ve been listening to DMB for a few years now and I absolutely love his music. So I figured the best thing I could do is get a guitar and see what I can do. So far my biggest problem is sticking with one song. I can play the easy parts to many of his songs, thanks to DMBtabs.com. But there seems to be at least one tough part in all of his songs.

I think the videos that this site offers are the coolest thing to a beginner like me. But even some of these videos go to fast. Is there a way to slow them down? I found a program that will let me slow down an MP3 file. But when I bring a video into it, it only edits the audio.

Any ideas?

Well first off, what songs are you attempting? Some songs just are not meant to be learned first. Playing the easy part, is a start, but I would find an esay part to one song you really like and STICK to it - meaning learn the entire thing (practice the words also, it may help you with strumming). Practice it. Jumping around - well I never found helpful. After about 2~3 weeks, if you cannot get it or it seems like you have made NO progress, change to another (obviously of equal or less diffuculty) song, and then come back to that orginal song. The reason why it only slows the audio is becasue DivX (the codec used in his movies, i think its also refered to as MPEG 4) is just MPEG 2 video, with MP3 sound attached to it (or it was the last time I checked). Try Virtual Dub to slow it down, but it will be more work than you want to put into it.

Hope that helps :)
Yes, I am Indian and I play the guitar. Believe It.
