Acoustiphonic-Full band recording

Unread post by lessthandmb » Wed May 25, 2005 10:05 pm

This is one of the songs off our demo that we'll be releasing in the next few weeks. Its got a mix of acoustic and electric guitar with saxophone and piano. Hope you enjoy.. let me know what you think about our band, the song itself, lyrics, vocals... anything really. A.Phonic-Static

The recording sounds good. The guitars seem to be playing the same thing, which gets a bit repetative. The riffs just aren't that creative, and if you have electric guitar, why not solo? The vocals could also be more interesting. There's moments where the timing is just a hair off. Overall, it sounds like each track was recorded seperately....which makes the song sound a bit unnatural.

Writing as I listen:

Fucking love the intro.

I hate it when vocals are on top of the music- I like them to be layered inside it.

I don't think I'd like a guitar solo- they're hard to slide into a song, and usually sound too forced. I also just don't like them 99% of the time, so I'm cool with it.

Love the sax.

The songwriting itself isn't my flavor. Sounds a bit like Yellowcard, or a band of that style.

Good example of a band that pulled off the blend of instruments you're mentioning would be The Urge. "Jump Right In," "Too Much Stereo," songs like that. Maybe you should hit them up.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

:D i take that as sarcasm ...you're right it really as little acoustic gutiar in it. Most songs are acoustic this just happens to be one of the more "radio-friendly" songs of ours so we used distortion. This song has a lottt of repetition... i was hoping you guys wouldnt notice! Theres another song we have that has more changes in it if anyone wants to hear it ill put that up as well...i don't really want to promote like this just if youre curious let me know.

Thanks,
Jeremy
