I thought Dave used a Levy Boot-Leather Strap.
I could be wrong, I haven't been able to find any good shots of him with his strap.

That's what I use.
That's what Stefan uses.
That's what Mraz uses.
That's what millions of people use.

The Levy Strap is awesome. It's wide, thick / padded, soft.
In my opinion, it's the nicest strap I found, and I tried a ton of them before I bought this one.

I can't offer you much help on the Planet Waves Strap, but like I said before, I think Dave uses or used a Levy Strap.

or maybe a toothpick.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I have 4. One's a reallynice decorative leather one, that is very very comfy, and I had Tim sign it. The next is a nylon one that has a sliding sholder pad. Then I have a straight black leather one, very sleak. Finally I got one for x-mas from my aunt. It's one that is all wood, it's amazing, and is one of the most comfortable straps I've worn.

i like the vintage looking thin straps of the 70's. they're just cool looking to have a thin little strap. check out slow hand sporting one here.

did you mean to say it was made of wood? or wool?
For us living any other ways was nuts. with all the goodie-goodies working shitty jobs for bum pay checks, took the subway work and worried about their bills were dead. they were suckers, they had no balls. if we wanted something we just took it, and if anybody complained twice they got hit so hard believe me they never complained again
