recorded my song

Unread post by borocks » Tue Feb 15, 2005 10:02 am

Here's the recording of the song:
http://www.k-web.ch/41/Bo-song3.mp3

Tell me what you think

Lyrics:

Verse1
when you were young the future was as bright as you’d expect it
you lived your dreams in any way and thought “nothing can wreck it!”
there’s just today, a place to stay and it’ll be okay
Your life will crumble away - time and tide won’t wait for you

Verse2
invincible and strong you are, there’s nothing that could bring you down
an overuse of drugs to feel free and not to be bound
intoxicated and stumbling on your way
but your life will crumble away - time and tide won’t wait for you

Chorus
ohh your mind is cracked, you’re turning slack
it ain’t your life no more
you always ought to be a man and now you’re creeping on the floor

Verse3
as your getting old and grey, life has changed, the past has gone
you avoid the mirror cause you hate to see what you’ve become
never thought that the tide might turn
Your life starts crumbling away - time and tide don’t wait for you

Chorus 2x

Solo1

Chorus2x

Solo2

can you say in English "your mind is cracked"? I was wondering about that one. I translated it directly from German and didn't know if it would make sense in English...

Sure you can say that. It means that you have lost it, did too many drugs, gone crazy.....etc.

Poetic license. You can twist the english language however you want. You're an artist and can do things however you like . If it fits for you then its right no matter if its grammatically correct or not.

poetic license, I like that one :)

Thanks man, I enjoy you like it.
I just asked you to have a look because sometimes I need to translate stuff from german because I'm not fluent and you have different kind of idioms and ways of expressions and it would turn out odd. A simple example:
I'm on cloud nine (engl) <--> I'm on cloud seven (german)
or
on the one hand (engl) <--> on the one side (german)

I'm glad it's almost my first language, because I know it's really tough for non native speakers. In Switzerland you start picking it up standard high german at first grade already, so it's kind of like your mother tongue.

Nice........sounds really cool. You should add a little more to the recording during the verse and chorus. Maybe some drums and bass or just some more guitar track.
