Central Park > GGP

Unread post by i like tictacs » Sun Jan 30, 2005 3:43 pm

I just realized this today after listening to GGP again. What a shitty show. I mean, the setlist looks great on paper but the Sugar Will sucks, the BOWA is weak, the #41 is absolutely terrible, you can't hear roi at all, dave is mixed WAY too loud, stefan is too low, i mean, i can hear it, i can hear it all, but i want everyone mixed right, but it's just annoying. you can't hear the ride cymbal at all and all in all the band was just off. central park was amazing, tons of energy, good setlist, almost perfect performance of most songs, not to mention an amazing mix.

alright, i'm done ranting

i still havent heard it. After buying that shitty gorge set (yes, pig was worth it but come on) i'm done with live dmb releases for a while.... at least until the quality becomes significantly better than the free recordings available online, like it was for chicago, folsom field, listener supported and luther.

Central Park is far greater than GGP (regardless of the fact that i was there). I haven't heard the album, but a lot of the songs had little energy (#41 is just so god fucking awful :().

Red Rocks is still the best. I don't like Dave's guitar at Central park. Haven't heard GGP, and I don't really want to from what I've heard.

DMB needs to get out some older shows, like 92, or 93. the gorge sucked, golden gate sucks, worchester has an amazing mix, but allot of it is just a repeat of chicago. bring out some old stuff please.

bad idea filmdude. imagine what message that would send out? that would say:

"We are DMB! We have been toruing for 15 years, but we are only realieasing the old stuff because the new stuff sucks."

And.. with a new album coming out, people want to feel DMB is rejuvinated and still high-energy and high-talent.
Putting out OLDEN stuff would be a horrible idea. and their managers wouldnt like that at all.
And.. for new fans, GGP is probably great for them, but we have just heard SOO much DMB that we end up getting picky after a while. We have heard ALL the best, and all the worst.

But ya, bad idea filmdude, business-wise, its a bad idea.

business wise it makes as much sense as releasing the gorge only to disapoint everyone who waited 2 years for sometihng awesome, and got crap. Makes as much sense as mixing GGP badly... Makes as much sense as releasing a show that with the exeption of a few songs was terrible (folsom feild)

its not a bad show its just they seemed to pick all the bad songs off everyday, but JTR and two step are great there. just some stuff seemed dead.

No concert is as bad as you think if you were actually there.

agreed.

and gumbo is 100% right. No matter what, it would send a bad message.
and honestly, 99% of DMB fans aren't knowledgable to notice the things you guys are complaining about.

Speaking of the Gorge. How is the full 3 show set? Are you saying that sucks, or just the CD/DVD set that was available in stores?
