Problem with The Stone MPEG?

Unread post by billywestom » Wed Jan 29, 2003 3:14 am

I downloaded the MPEG of Dave's solo performance of "The Stone" on that Charlie Rose show from KaZaA, and everytime I play it, it slows down the other programs on my computer. Anyone else have this problem, or did I get a bad file?

if it's slowing down everything else then i don't know what to say cause avi is the smallest format and it shouldn't be doing that. my best guess would be to close all your other programs before you run it or restart your computer before and then run it. good luck!

playing audio/video through kazaa can be one of the most resource consuming processes you can do, next to rendering video and audio. expecially if you have a lower end computer/video card. before i watch a video through kazaa, i minimize or close all of my programs other than kazaa. and i've also found that if you right click on the screen, and leave it with the right-click options up, the computer will almost focus on kazaa and allow it more resources to use, keeps it from skipping around.

that's not true. when you capture a video from a camera or some other source into your computer, it saves the completely uncompressed file as a HUGE avi file on your harddrive. and even after you compress the avi file down, it's still a bigger file than the .mpg's or .mpeg's. see here for more info.

I actually don't view them through kazaa, i create playlists on windows media player and use that. its not a problem, i'll see what happens with the avi file. i have dozens of other dave mpegs on there and they work great. im confident the new download will work

try defragmenting your drive
it will make your computer run faster all the time
Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."
