I actually just played one tonight it was solid cherry. I dont like it personally it doesnt have much of a boom to it and the sound is kinda crappy. I'd say save your moeny and get a takmine for like 300-400. But try some out before you do anything. Before you go to the store decide how much you want to spend and make an effore not to play anthing out of that range (mind you that Guitar Center and Sam ASh and alot of other retailers negotiate on price.) because you'[ll end up never getting a guitar.

I have a Simon and Patrick Luthier. It was 800+ (CDN) and it sounds great, and is a great guitar. It stands up very well to Martin Guitars that I have played that are $1500+

Are you talking about Art & Lutherie? If so, I have one of those. I bought it at a local guitar shop about two years ago, and it is the only guitar I own. It was approximately $300 american and it's a very good guitar considering the price. The only thing I have found to be a bit rough is the fretboard is slow and without elixir's it will tear your fingers up pretty bad. Other than that, it's awesome. Whenever my friends play it, they tell me it's super hard to play because of the slow fret board, but I guess it just takes some getting used to.

getting an art and lutherie? That's one of the best choices you can make when you're looking for quality low priced dreads. When I got an A&L as my first guitar, I hated it with a passion for a year. The action was too freaking high. But I got my A&L's action lowered at a local guitarshop and they added a second strap button for about 45 bucks and now it is my favorate guitar EVER. I personally love the boomy voice of my A&L, and when I play it i can drown out all my friend's guitars (a sign of a kickass guitar). So I definately say go ahead and get one, then get it set up so the action isn't so high, and it will be the best purchase you'll ever make.

And that goes for spiffy too, get your action lowered and you'll love that guitar and never want to put it down ;P

What's up guys. Just discovered this site today - cool site. 8)

I own a cedar Art & Luthier. Great guitar, I love it. I purchased it in Victoria for about $260 CND. It actually is my first guitar and I've had it for about 3 years. They are built in Quebec and come out of the same place that Simon and Patrick and Norman come from (I believe). You will notice that those guitars are very similar in many ways.

Great sounding guitar for the price. Every one of my friends that has played is very complimentary of it, and surprised at the low cost.

Of course guitars are a very personal thing and one person may not like things that others do... but in general these guitars get great reviews. I recommend it.
