DEGENERATION

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

EVEN THE POST ABOUT DEGENERATION IS DEGENERATING...
howso? we're civally discussing our differences, is there a problem with that or should we run around like incessantly happy teletubbies? I'm confused...
do their faces ever move? how can we tell they're really happy? hmm...

and i'm likin' your longer posts gcom. well thought out and poignant...just very daunting to look at. ;)
that's kinda the point, they're presumably happy on the outside, they show no other face, but on the inside, they very well could be jacked up. and thanks, yeah, sorry, I get long winded late at night when I can't sleep...

I know i might have pissed some people off but its all in fun and games no more i promise.
Laughter come on downtown window
And we see faces walking back
Tonight everybody gonna remember
Remember in time...

I have no idea where this thread has gone but I would like to throw my two cents in as a response to the original post. I think you posted pre-maturely fire.......these past couple days it has gotten crazy because gcomm felt like going "Bridge" on all of us. Other than that, I think the site has been used almost exclusively for learning and fun, respectable chatting. Other than this gcomm stuff from a couple days ago....things were fine.

NOW, I will say one thing....someone did post a reply(which I deleted) to one of gcomm's posts that said something along the lines of "SHUT THE F*** UP AND GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE" although not in caps and not exactly that. Those kinds of things WILL NOT be tolerated around here. I have no idea who posted it...I just read it and deleted it. There's no need for anything like that.

agreed kanter!

i look at this site primarily for learning and critiqing. Nancies or bridge should be used for negativity towards the band any way you look at it... to come into dmbtabs.com and question the band's ability and professionalism is completely bogus...this site isn't really even about the band...it's about us, learning how to improve and helpin each other...not having to defend a group/band that we happen to love...personally i think all topics such as these should be locked so as not to give the satisfaction to those who try to purposely stir things up in here...my two cents anyway

-can't wait for that flippin' DVD dude!! i wish the dmb legal team would get on their horse and get the ball rollin!

peace,
TJ

I could care less about his opinions...I have yet to bach Gcom...it is just the general discussion around here is getting awefully "bridgey" round here...
i wasn't trying to justify his opinion or anything (because i could care less as well), i was just trying to defend the character of another human being, because SOME people (not directed at you, fire  ) are just really being nasty to him, and i don't wanna see that kind of thing, just like i'm sure you don't either...

and i hope you don't think i'm getting "bridgey", because thats the last think i want, i'm actually trying to do the exact opposite of that...

i agree with fatjack. i don't think gcom should be bashed simply because he's said negative things about the band here.

of all the boards to discuss the possible degeneration of dmb i would think this would be the best one. our love for the band is not driven simply by blind devotion, but appreciation and understanding of what it takes to make music. clearly, dmb has a special place in all of our hearts, which is probably what makes us so knee-jerkingly defensive about them. if you'd read gcom's post though, he also has a lot of emotion invested in the band.

that being said, i don't agree with gcom...
they're like the ice cream man...they come back every summer dishing the same flavors basically.
i think the setlists this tour have been a vast improvment over past tours. they're playing more rare songs, they're mixing it up, they're coming up with new segues all the time... there seems to be much more variety than in the past few years, in my opinion.
12/13/02 and 7/2/03 I'd have to say were pretty lacking in real energy
while i agree with you that the winter 2002 tour was mediocre from what i saw (i only saw one show though), i've been to 6/20 and 6/21 this tour and thought they were great, 6/20 especially. it may seem to you that dave doesn't care anymore, but i'll tell you, he played his heart out that night. i can't speak for the show you were at, since i wasn't there, but i have to say that i felt my hopes rising for dmb after those 2 shows. i had also thought they were getting a little stale, but from what i've seen, they seem to be on the upswing. i'm also going to 9/13 and 9/14, so we'll see how i feel after that.

you also mention that you think the band needs a break, and cite the fact that they seem to be going in different directions. maybe for them that is their hiatus--working on projects with different people. maybe they do need a real break, who knows?

you also mention the desertion of the "real fans" and seem to think the dmb community is going downhill. i'm sorry you feel that way, but in my opinion, the dmb community has always been a little clique-ish. people like to get into pissing contests about who's the more hardcore fan, who's been to more shows, who has the most shows, etc, which is stupid. until i found this site i never posted, just lurked, cause i didn't care about that shit. here people seem to be much more into the music itself, and accepting of "new" fans.

that's part of why it sucked when you showed up here posting stuff like "dave matthews is corrupt". i think you have a good argument and what you said in your long-ass post was valid. but pissing people off right off the bat is not gonna help things.

i guess what i'm trying to say is hang in there gcom. you may think things look bleak right now, but wait and see how this tour turns out. don't judge it just on one show.

sorry for the long post.
