iv always had problems with my left (cord) hand cramping...anyone else? how do i stop it...i would play soooo much better it i could

It could be a couple of things:

1) wrong technique. You may want to check on some of the various guitar websites on proper technique of holding a guitar. Some of the chords can be tough so it may help to use a classical guitar positioning instead of having your guitar completely level. You also may have your guitar neck pointing too far away from you.

2) Dave's crazy chord stretches. There is no doubt that Dave uses some chords that involve tough stretches. Songs like Crash, #41, Captain, Satellite just to name a few give some people fits. Part of it is strengthening your hand muscles up. Even Dave has some problems with playing Crash so long.

3) not warming up. Pretty self explanatory. Going through scales and warm up exercises will help loosen up your hands before playing some of these chords.
