yeah, i agree. i dont remember YMDT too well but smooth rider did drag on. its like they played the entire song over and over again 3 or 4 timesonid41 wrote:you might die trying and smooth rider i felt was definately dragged on and overjammed a bit...i mean smooth rider is a 2 minute something song, and dave decided to say the verses all over again and add a little jam...sounded real repetitive

i also like the early ants...i wouldnt mind seeing Ants as an opener, stay as set closer, and billies as encore closer...
watchtower is starting to get boring...does anyone know if the jammed part of watchtower this year is consistently RR/Chicago version (with band cutting out) or if its CP style with whole band whole time?

A really really good show. maybe my favorite i've been to.
Everyday - good opener, i was hoping for two step when stefan had out his fretless, but no problem.
Ants Marching - awesome. carter started the snare intro as soon as the last note of #36 hit. The funk intro was great, fonzie was having some tech problems up to this point; they were fiddling around with his rig the whole time as soon as howie day finished up. They fixed it here though.
Dream Girl - pretty good. I like the wail intro, but we heard it last night, and i think once was enough. The jam was pretty quick and faded out smoothly though.
The Stone - freakin' sweet. i'm glad we got quite a bid of btcs material this show, considering.
Rhyme & Reason * - cool. i was glad they got rashawn out more tonight. the trumpet fit all of the songs really well, although on this one he pretty much just backed up leroi.
Louisiana Bayou * - probably the highlight of the night. Dave was in a great mood all night and this jam just plain kicked ass. like rr on a trumpet.
Out Of My Hands - not quite as smooth as the studio version, but it was still tight, gave me a chance to sit for a few minutes after that killer LB.
Bartender - nice surprise,
i was kinda hopin for grey street. but another long jammer was cool too. the wailing outro was strong and then they did the butch piano solo which was pretty long, before leroi pennywhistled us out of there. really cool.
Crush - holy shit. stefan fuckin' teased #34 during his intro. it was crazy, i almost freaked out. awesome version of crush too.
Granny - very strong, great scatting by dave, awesome crowd.
Stand Up - i thought this was really cool. i liked dave's playing, and carter went off a couple of times.
You Might Die Trying - really strong/solid jam. kinda like a new bartender sort of. great live tune.
Lover Lay Down - i don't really like this song, but it was a good break. but they jammed it to at least 7 minutes, which was a bad move.
Hunger For The Great Light - rocking. played as the opener last night, which was really cool. they hit this hard, and they all knew it, specially dave.
Rapunzel * - nice, more btcs material. this was a slamming version with an extended jam thanks to ross. very good closer.

So right before Old Dirt Hill, two kids burst out on stage and try to grab on to dave. they knocked over roi's horns and got tackled and hauled away by bodyguards. i felt bad for dave, but he laughed it off, i couldn't make out what he was saying though. still, they could have been armed or something, and they got on stage no problem... anyway..
Old Dirt Hill - i knew this was coming. it was alright though, they had to end with something strong, and just like last year with crazy-easy, they finish with
All Along The Watchtower - i would have preferred two step, but whatever. stefan was on fire all night, and his solo was even more so. pretty short solos for everyone else though.
so overall, tonight was kick ass. last night was a lot more mellow, plus i was on the lawn. tonight was just total butt kicking action. i can't wait to download it and burn it to my ipod. I was hoping for #41 because my gf was with me both nights, but that's okay. I think they did well with the stand up material. i think it was 9 songs the first night, and 7 tonight. they repeated the best ones, so i can't complain about them really. can't wait to listen to this show again. i wanna see what mike thought.
