Easiest Dave song to learn?

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I picked up a guitar 3 months ago and I am just now learning Grey Street. I just finished Crash and can sing to that after 3 months. All this and I've been playing bass for almost a year. So I do have some idea of what I'm doing, which I'm guessing would speed up the learning curve, with the chords and whatnot...etc...etc. But I have trouble believing you can play the stone after 3 months mastered. That song is dave complexity at it's finest along with YNK.

That's how I was on Bass. I can play guitar so that made the bass pretty darn easy to learn. :)

I'd say Crash is one of the easiest, awesome song and it was the first song I learned to play after learning all the chords, definitely just learn that its not too hard at all. I've got the strum pattern in a file that Billy had made so if you need that let me know and I can hook you up with that, its great.

I'd say that Christmas song is pretty easy. No real chords to learn. In fact I'd say it's one of the easier songs in general to learn.

With any Dave song, rhythm is the key. If the timing or feel of the song is off, then it won't matter how easy it is.

Crash is a great one to start out with. It teaches you one of the Dave fundamentals, which is the walking bass line played over a chord fragment. It's also good for limbering up your fingers. #41 is another great example of a good stretching exercise. A song like Grey Street will teach you more of his chord formations and unique muting techniques. Tripping Billies is another, but it is quite a bit more difficult.

The most important thing is to get the fingering positions correct and be able to switch between them with ease. Then work on the timing of the chord changes and then finally work on duplicating Dave's strumming patterns.

yeah i know what you mean,
i've only been playing three weeks and i have satellite, the stone, tripping billies, stairway to heaven, little wing, and voodoo chile "mastered"
I would LOVE to hear you play those. Throw a recording up in the recording forum.
Youve been playing guitar for three months, or just Dave for three months, if its the latter I can understand, but thats still a stretch. If you picked up a guitar 3 months ago for the first time, I dont believe that and I doubt anyone would, sorry but its just pretty far fetched. A recording would be nice to hear though.
It is kind of hard to believe. But I can see it. I picked up a lot of Dave stuff when I started. I'm talkin in like 1 month, I by no means am a good guitar player, but it is possible.
