So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Firedancer's post (below) is the best description of Satellite (exactly how i do it). but nothing in that post explains how to mute Stone when strumming (not alt picking).

by the way: how exactly do you do the quote box in your reply? (will i get another canned respone on this question?)

either hit the quote button at the top right or type in

[ quote = "whatever their screenname is" ]the message[ /quote ]

but without the spaces between the [q and the "]

nor the [/ and the e]. :)

ok... theres really nothing to explain here, you simply fret the indicated notes and mute ther estof the strings with whatever finger feels right

im not going to sit here and tell you what fingers i use for muting because everyone's hand is differnent

sorry if i was a bastard about it

and you people must understand that you must practice... a lot!!!

peace

are you guys saying that you place a finger over the low E string just so you can mute it? a lot of you have the wrong idea. muting five strings at once sounds quite awful, just try playing only the string thats being fretted and the strings that need to be muted will be muted by the finger thats fretting. there should be no reason to mute the e string. just dont strike it!

the only string you need to mute is the low E which you do with the your ring finger. Even that's not necessary.....just try strumming the 3rd, 4th and 5th strings.. i can play it just fine and I hardly use any muting on it.

yeah, i just kindof do it naturally, my fingers that fret the notes mute just by laying my hand on the neckand fretting the notes
