I spoke to the guitar tech at AL&M in Norfolk (he has done setup work for both Dave Matthews and Carlos Santana...very knowlegable and humble individual)...if I can remember what he said....the ES needs to go through a preamp first, because it can "overpower" an amp and make it sound $#itty. I may have gotten it wrong, but I think that is what he said.

yeah...there's this preamp taylor's making that's supposed to be incredible, but i don't have a link and don't remember what it was or if that's even it.

it's supposed to help with the sound though...can't wait to hear it.

Taylor (actually rupert nevelle (i think, not sure about last name)) is making a K4 and a K5 equalizer that should make the ES sound even better.

some amps are not designed to use the ES system. ive heard that ultrasound amps are flawless with ES.

Yeah, Ultrasounds kick about the most booty ever. I have a beautiful AG 100DS2, and it is just unreal. Kicked the pants off my friends SWR California Blonde. It wasnt' even funny how much better my Ultrasound was when we compared the two.

It also makes a lot of sense that the ES would need a pre-amp to tame the signal as it's a VERY hot system output-wise.

I hope that Taylor does decide to retrofit older guitars with the ES, and that they get the outfit rigged so that it fits into the slots left by the Fishman blenders.

and glad to know that me digging for an ultrasound amp will be worth it. does it have two channels for a mic and instrument input? i'm needing something to start performing with.
