So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

But yes, Macs do rule for multimedia. And for everything else. Period.
Shhhhhhhhh.....keep that D/L....DAMN, IT's ON A MESSAGE BOARD!!! Ha, yes...Mac's do rule for everything. I just priced out the Mac that i want....here it is:

• Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5
• 8GB DDR400 SDRAM (PC3200) - 8x1GB
• 2x250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm
• ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
• Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel)
• Apple Cinema HD Display (23" flat panel) + Apple DVI to ADC Adapter
• AirPort Extreme Card
• SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW)
• Apple Keyboard & Apple Mouse - U.S. English
• Mac OS X - U.S. English
• iPod - 30GB
• Logitech Z-680 THX 5.1 Speakers & Monster 2-meter Cable

Subtotal $12,583.95

The 8GB of RAM....500GB of storage....30GB iPod....and 2 HD 23" LCD displays are FULLY needed :)
That's pretty much the exact system I priced. Oh, except I already have the iPod.

That sounds like your schools ones are not configured correctly for the network they have - Macs (esp. now with Rendezvous) have the best networking of any desktop OS. How old was your friend's comp? He was probably running a really old version of MacOS. Pretty much everything before 8 sucked compared to now (and now 8 & 9 suck compared to OS X). OS X is absolutely, no-questions-asked, the best operating system I have EVER used. (I have used every flavor of Windows, Lindows, RH Linux, Mandrake, SuSe, Debian, gentoo, FreeBSD, OpenBSD).
