As for what the song means? I'm sure it is different to each individual. To me it is saying all the material things we strive for just destroy us and leave us empty....that the basic principals of unconditional love, and enjoying the simple joys of what God has given us are priceless. To me that ties into the type of retrospective thinking that one does after they experience a tragic loss such as the one Stephan went through.
