it definitely wouldn't rip the bridge from your guitar.
unless your bridge is about ready to pop off anyway, in which case, whatever, it was going to do it eventually.
they wouldn't make heavy gague strings if they were so harmful for the guitar.
that being said, i'd only try them if i had a BIG dreadnaught or jumbo.
What guages of strings do you use??

Just recently in persuit of getting my guitar setup I spoke with 2 luthiers. Both advised against putting anything heavier than medium on an acoustic. I asked the same question, why do they make heavy strings then? They both pretty much dodged the question and said for marketing and large guitars that can stand the strain, but didn't really go into models or examples. Both acutally said they wouldn't even recommend putting mediums on a guitar and always recommend that customers use lights or lighter. One of them would recommend as heavy as med-light mix. Both stated that medium strings if used consistently over time will likely damage a guitar. I was like damn that sucks cause i've been using mediums for 5 years
