i hate having to listen to jimi thing, but i thought it was really good. It was jazz scatting, not "let me make a fool of myself so people can laugh at me" dave style scatting.

scat

n : singing jazz; the singer substitutes nonsense syllables for the words of the song and tries to sound like a musical instrument [syn: scat singing]

A lot of jazz guitarists sing what they play, or play what they sing (Herb Ellis, Kurt Rosenwinkle). It's really hard to do, I've been working on it for awhile. It helps your phrasing out alot, I've found. It helps me really focus on what I'm playing.

ahha.. yes i understand the concept...but most musicians make it seem like there is another musical instrument in addition to the one they are playing (if they are playing one)..if you listen to the keyboard as he is doing it.. what he is saying is identicle to the music coming from his keyboard.. it would be like dave scatting on grey street and just going "duh.. duh duh duh.. duh duh duh...duh" hahaha im sure someone out there gets what im trying to say

Thats a pretty damn good version of the song overall too. Great tone from roi. He has often been a little honky and squeeky as of late.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Did anyone else hear Dave say:

I sing like a fool cuz I can't play guitar?

I'm fuckin baked, but I think I heard it.

Yeah, he said something like that. At least he's honest.
