he also does play trumpet allowing for the assumption that he knows music and thus knows his chords

in my experience, most horn players are very inadequate with knowledge of chord constructionMachtimus wrote:which doesn't hinder his knowledge that one should learn chords.dmbandummer wrote:Weren't you just asking in another thread "how to play git?"andy_plsn wrote:YER A DUMB A$$ GO TO HELL AND LEARN YER CHORDS

last time I checked a trumpet can only play one note at a time. I was great at playing at different keys but I never learned chords until I started playing guitar. Now that I am trying my hand at piano it is even more difficult when a chord doesn't have the same shape for different notes. For instance, on the guitar to play c maj to d maj I just slide up two frets, on piano you have to know that there is an f# in dmaj and play a black key.fatjack wrote:in my experience, most horn players are very inadequate with knowledge of chord constructionMachtimus wrote:which doesn't hinder his knowledge that one should learn chords.dmbandummer wrote:Weren't you just asking in another thread "how to play git?"andy_plsn wrote:YER A DUMB A$$ GO TO HELL AND LEARN YER CHORDS

I also hate chords. Boo to chords!
True, but on a piano all C and D chords are the same shape regardless of where on the keyboard they are. Pros and cons.
