ditto. I atleast think they should have gotten that right, regardless of how unscientific the poll was.

its always hard to make a list like this, especially one so long and subjective.. im sure they fell victim to group think more than a few times....
and im sure the stuck a few in there that they forgot about at the end and didnt put much thought ino it....

The list was made by people voting, not a group of people coming up with rankings. It isn't really a who's the best thing, but more who do you like.

when you consider that it's a mag geared toward musicians and the poll spanned all genres 13th is pretty damn respectable, especially when you see some of the names under his.
Thanks for the link. I may have a response to that second quote, but I haven't checked the link yet...

Just checked the link... don't know if I could replace any of the top twelve with Dave... I'm embarrassed!

Jack "Barre Chord" Johnson beat out Nick Drake, Robert Johnson and Kaki King?
C'mon, I love JJ's tunes, but he's not the most amazing guitarist.
This poll is highly suspect.

28. Jack Johnson
29. Kelly Joe Phelps
30. Muriel Anderson
31. Pat Donahue
32. Adrian Legg
33. Al Petteway
34. Alex de Grassi
35. John Fahey
36. Reverend Gary Davis
37. Nick Drake
38. Bryan Sutton
39. Preston Reed
40. Dave Van Ronk
41. Robert Johnson
42. Kaki King

And on the Mayer tip...
I've seen him up close, small venues, acoustic solo shows. The man does deserve to be on this list.
joe.
