The outro jam to the Halloween on Recently is the most badass drumming I've heard in a while, it gets faster and faster and all the more complex without ever losing rhythm

i've heard that DIDO was written with the sole thought in mind to show off carter's abilities as a drummer. what do ya'll think?

I do not believe he has a best song. Not because I LOVE them all and they all show the best drumming EVER! (which in a sense, I do..but not like how you would precieve it, cause it isnt the best drumming). Carter does not go too far off from a basic backbeat through any song. It is his little fills and chops that he adds fro the betterment of a song that I dig. A three year drumer could be able to play his back beats and rythms, but his chops are what makes him a fantastic musician. Though, he is no Max Roach. You want to see the "best" drumming ever, check that out. Him and Clifford Borwn do insane things on Daahound. The intro makes the song. Its like a goddamn conversation with those two.

i LOVE the drumming build-up intro to say goodbye, i think that is one of the best solo's carter does...he messes around with different rhythms, slows it down, speeds it up, and then eases into the songs true rhythm so nicely...such a good transitional drum solo to open a song....i love hearing this song live!

I've always found YNK to be one of his finest hours.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

I think he meant the part about you downplaying carter, not sure if u meant to but thats the vibe i got. ive heard many of these older jazz drummers and im a big fan of buddy rich but as great as these guys are i'll never consider any other drummer better than carter, hes always ontop of his shit, putting every little thing in the right place, things most drummers never consider, and he can do it all in his sleep hehe...
