I know he's popular and all, but people don't look past his poppy stuff usually! That man can play! He is a technical genious that uses his own style of thumb fretting! If i had long thumbs like him, I'd be happy. Some of his songs are very technical and require some crazy chords that my hand can't get into. It seems that everyone just sees him as the guy who sang Your Body is a Wonderland. That song's horrible. You have too look past that and listen to something like Covered in Rain from his DVD!
i agree with you but i don't think he's underrated. everyone views him as a great guitarist, well atleast everyone i know does.

Well, I'll be the first to say it. Outside of dmb guitar players, Dave, even to himself, is underated.

Oh, and one not looked at by most is Mark Knouphfler. He is from Dire Straits.

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.

no way, he gets recognized in every guitar magazine top guitarist of all time list. He's well recognized and has been for years, but they haven't done much new stuff so no one talks about him anymore.

Thank you!!! All non-guitarists don't see him really as a great guitarist. That was the point I was trying to make in my previous post on this thread!

I think Maury Meuhleisen, who played with Jim Croce, if he were still alive, would be an underated guitarist..he had some nice lead fills to fit with Jim Croce's songs :)

Keller is an incredible guitarist, and an amazing musician overall. His stuff is godamn near impossible to play note for note, with all the sparkle and shine he adds over his normal chords, and have you ever sat down and tried to hammer notes over a barre? That's not even the half of it, either... and I'll second Raul Midon! What a singer too :D

i would say elliott smith. people always said how great he was at writting lyrics but hardly ever say anything about his guitar skills. granted he was no jimi but the guy was great at being able to do rythem/solo at the same time.

thanks,
dustin
