I think comments like that are a little strange. You may not prefer fender's just as I may not prefer Taylor's but SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, Anastasio(spelling?) ect all sound pretty damn good on their fenders to name a few.

actually, trey does not have a fender, he has a custom made guitar, done by a buddy of his maybe at fender cant buy it sooo its not in the fender picture, also SRV and them have changed their fender soooo much its just the fender body... a fender guitar off the shelf is crap, ur gonna find more artistist using a stock gibson than a stock fender, plain and simple

I got a Gibson Les Paul Studio. I love it. It's the only solid body guitar I would ever want.
(prices differ in each store, so here are the general rang prices)
Studios go about 800-1200
Standards around 1000-1500
Classics about 1200-1800
Custom 1500-2200 (tim has a custom)
(customs are the creme de la creme of standard lines of Les Pauls)
Now, there is a Les Paul Custom that is very expensive, but is beautiful, and sounds outstanding. It's the tripple pick up Black Beauty. That is an expensive guitar.
Anyways, I still like Strats and Teles. Also, in Beatles days, they didn't fiddle with their guitars too much. These are the rare changes John, Paul, and George ever did to ANY of their guitars. John, when he had his tripple pick up Rickenbacker, he disconnected the middle pickup. That's it. Then The three of them (actualy, not sure that paul did this), they had their Epiphone Casinos. They stripped the finishes off them to get better tone out of them. Then, John had a one of his gibson acoustics stripped of the stain, then painted, then re painted, then stripped it again.
Now, George loved his Gretsch, Strats, Teles, and Les Pauls. He pretty much did not fool around with them. He even played Gretsches up til he died. John used his Rickenbacker a lot in the studio in the 70s, til he died.
Also, I like the sound of a strat.

ok...so far, what ive gathered (of actual info, not just like "i dont like them" that doesnt count) is that gibson les pauls....
1. stay in tune better/best
2. are put together as good or better than any guitar
3. have gold plated electronics to help eliminate unwanted noise and help transfer frequencies
so now ive come to conclude it is cheaper to just buy the cheapest model you like looking at(i.e. epiphone les paul or squire strat or whatever) and then get like 400 dollars worth of work done on the electronics, etc. and youre guitar is just as good as any? sounds fishy to me

this is true, but id still never buy an epi.Ranting Thespian wrote:Well, squire, the don't last long, physicly. The necks bend easily, and, well, everything about them is made bad. Epiphone bodies are built better. Not as good as Gibson, but Epis will withstand nicely.
