This technique has worked for me twice.. the first time was when I was trying to beat Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Sega, i woke up the next morning and BAM, he was off the balcony.
The other time was when I was learning slap bass... vocals, I'm not sure it would be the hottest idea to be just yelling out some insanely high note. When trying for it use your diaphragm and use that to push your range, but before you do that work your way up the scale. Such as is if it's a B, make sure you can do E, F, G, A perfectly. If not, just work your way up. It takes time, have patience and your vocal chords will thank you for it.

yeah I'm not the greatest singer, infact probably the furthest from but I have noticed that the more I work at it the better I get. Kinda like playing guitar when you first start out everyone just wishes you would give up and stop playing but after a while you get good at it and then everyone goes wow your really good.

I apologize for not reading all the posts.

try the siren during vocal practice. you basically start with a low note on oooo and then go to the hightest pitch you can reach. try different vowels aaa for example. you will find that some vowels come more naturally than others. Sometimes you need to tweak the vowel to hit the note. This is a really good warm up. you will find where your voice cracks is your bridge. This will help you extend your range.

try opening up the back of your throat so the sound is resonating at the top of your mouth.

you don't scream, you shouldn't scream while singing you will ruin your voice.

if you are breathing through your diaphragm instead of your chest you should have enough power to hit the note on any volume level.
