You just have to decide if your patience is worth $1200+ . . . My Lakland Skyline is a hell of a bass, and for $3000 you could get a Skyline and still have money left over for a used Dolphin, and have another great bass while you wait.
In the case of my Skyline, I did buy new, because the new price on a Skyline Glaub is $875. Sure, I could have found a used one maybe in the $600 range, but in that case I decided that waiting for the one I want and the potential hassle of buying from a private party wasn't worth $275. But for over $1000, I'd think differently.
