that's what I'm wonderin' the version I listened to I think is donein the studio so he can do separate tracks for the fingerpicking and strumming. I would say he would just strum with his finger nails doing it live, cause that sounds good. that's just what I assume and is probably how I'm going to do it.

I actually saw him play this live 4/30/02 at Ames, but I was so shocked to hear him actually play it, I wasn't really watching him play, plus that was around the time I started playing and I really wasn't thinking of trying to attempt it, I don't remember him using a pick, but who know.

I saw him play it as the solo encore two years ago in AZ. He fingerpicked the verse and the "a dream its...." part while he had a pick tucked away between his middle and index fingers. When the "so if I'm inside...." part comes up he brings the pick out and strums that section along with the chorus. Thats how I play it and it makes it sound really cool to strum the pre-chorus and chorus with a pick (I'm not very good at strumming without a pick)....its such a great song...

thanks for the pick tucking tip, I'm gonna try that, and yeah it is a great song.
