Bottom line go try out the T5 and compare it to some other things and see what you think. The T5 is selling pretty well for a reason, a lot of ppl like it, you might be one of them.

I played the T5 Custom Koa at GC the other day. It had a really nice sound. I did, however play a Les Paul with a flamed maple top (Natural finish) and it sounded 10X better than the T5.

Just my $.02

Also look at American Stratocasters. Some people hate the weight of Les Pauls after a bit. It depends what you are doing. Go play them. Don't make a decision based on us. Let us guide you and then you go play play play.

Yeah, and a Stratocaster is COMPLETELY different of a Les Paul. They are appropriate for very different styles.

So... play play play!!

look at the Gibson and epiphone SG.
I have a fender, and unless you are playign the blues, they arent very versatile guitars.

I just bought a Fernandes Monterey guitar for $750 about a month ago. Its amazing and i cant tell you enough how much i love it. It came with already awesome pick ups, Seymour Duncans. It also has a sustainer and it just looks insane, i can post pics if you want. It all depends what you like better though. I like the scale of the Gibson style necks compared to the Strats neck. If you have big hands you might not like the Gibson style neck because when you get down around the 12 fret the frets are really close together, but i have skinny fingers so i like it a lot. I played a les paul classic and the Fernandes and i honestly thought the Fernandes beat the $2000 les paul. Also a big part of the sound is the amp. You need a good amp, i got the Crate VTX 200s. This thing is just amazing, i think i got it for $500. So for about $1400 I got a really nice setup.

i hope this helps, good luck!
