Alot of people feel the label of African American only applies if you're black. But it would come down to your nationality. He could be a citizen of Africa, hence making him African, and he's a citizen of America as well, making him American.

So.. despite that it was a huge round-about, probably senseless, way of putting it.. yes, he would be an African American.

yes, african american is one of those accepted terms that people don't really think into too much. It is an entirely incorrect terminology nowadays

I am latin (as well) if I go and live my life in the U.S. I'd be latin american...which I already am even by not living in the us.

What is the correct terminology for that then? Can't think of any.

Wait, what?

So, the term "African American" now refers to location, rather than ethnicity? Are blacks going to be pissed if we start calling them blacks again?

I like this one! He's British, we were responsible since he was born in our colony.

'What would i say...?'well i don't know there's 'so much to say', 'recently' i've been contemplating daves as an african american but am 'i a fool to think he is', oh well its not like it matters its all 'one sweet world' and we should love 'everybody, wake up' i say to those who discriminate, think about 'what you are!'

Could have gone on longer but the novelty wore off.
