do you know how to tune to d? its just one more down from there. you will notice that when your guitar is in tune, holding the low e on the fifth fret and playing the a-string open they will sound exactly the same, if you tune your low e down so that the 7th fret and the a-string sound the same its in drop d, and if you go to the 9th fret low e and tune your guitar down further still till it sounds like an open a-string then your in drop c, understand?

Everyone should know how to tune their guitar. Just work down the 5th fret and the string below it open should sound the same, except on the g-string, you use the 4th fret there, everyone knows that right?

Yeah, it's really not that hard. When I bought my first guitar, it was out of tune..

It was the first thing I learned how to do.

yeah, I didnt mean to say its hard, just puttin it out there incase people didnt know about it, its a really easy way to see if your strings are in tune with each other if you dont have a tuner handy, and a quick way to go to drop d/c whatever real quick too

I use the harmonics instead of the tones.

i use harmonics too. it really brings out the difference so you can get it as close as possible.

I'll never understand how people use those damn harmonics! I gotta learn to do that. Not only is it hella accurate, but it looks and sounds pretty damn cool!

tune with harmonics like this:

5 on low E should match 7 on the A.
5 on A should match 7 on the D.
5 on D should match 7 on the G.
7 on the low E should match the OPEN B string.
5 on B should match 7 on the high E.

hope i did that right, i don't have my guitar...
