buying from maury's music
buying from maury's music
has anyone bought a guitar from them? i called them for a quote and it's the best price i've found, but i'm weary of buying a 2k+ instrument without playing it first. the price includes set-up and shipping.

You have found one of the best stores out there. I'm a member of the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum and they have nothing but good things to say about Maury, and he's a member of that forum and a great guy. I would not hesitate buying from him, he also seems to get in a good stock from Martin, which I'm guessing is probably what you are buying, if not my opinion still does not change. What guitar are you looking at anyway?bigseal wrote:has anyone bought a guitar from them? i called them for a quote and it's the best price i've found, but i'm weary of buying a 2k+ instrument without playing it first. the price includes set-up and shipping.

i guess what i'm asking is if maury's gives it a quality set -up, should i be worried about having not played it before hand? would you trust maury's set-up over a guitar center? (the only local shop that has a hd-28v)
has anyone ever purchased a guitar, whether it was from maury or not, they had not played before? if yes, please share...

I've bought a few guitars online (Taylor 714LTD and Lowden F25c), and have been happy both times. That being said, I wouldn't buy a Martin online, especially since it is only $100 more at the store. I would definately pay the extra $100 to be confident. I think Martin's are less consistent from guitar to guitar, so you have a chance of getting one you aren't happy with. Certain times call for buying online and spending money, but unless you are buying a rare guitar or saving a lot of money, then I wouldn't risk it.Lbacker wrote:Hey man I'm in the same boat...I am going to buy an HD-28 this month. But I can get it for 1999 or so on-line. But its gonna run 2100 or so @ any other store around me so don't know what I wanna do. LEt me know what you do.

I would trust Maury over the guitar center, he knows his stuff. Just a suggestion since not many people know this. I believe Guitar Center will meet any price that you find that is lower then theirs. If there is a good one at guitar center that you really like, ask a guitar center rep. about that deal, then get a printout from maury quoting a price and they should be able to meet it. Other then that I would still suggest going through Maury, I'll talk to him and see if he has any good ones in stock right now. Maury will be honest with you and he has a good ear, if he says he has a good one in stock then he's not lying. Plus I think he gives you an approval period to look over the guitar. Also If you would be interested in buying a used one that would still be in great shape I can probably help you out, I know a few places were you could get a good deal. PM me if you want me to look around for you, it would be no big deal.bigseal wrote:to add to the above post...
