Open mic tonight

Did an open mic at school tonight. normally i do them every two weeks or so.

Started of with What you are. people liked it a lot

thanks to SocCymbal's drums. i did Grey Street, and #41 with drums. people liked that

then i did "down to the old pub instead" by stephen lynch. a funny song about menstration. it was recieved very well, with lots of laughs.

then came the downer. i closed with "special olympics" and some people liked it, but a bunch of peeps were offended. seriously they need to lighten up.

i even warned them and said 'if you're easily offended, dont' listen, or leave' but anyway, i was just pissed that my school paid stephen lynch last year to come here and play those songs, and people liked it. but get offended when i play the SAME song, after i warn them even.

anyone else ever get recieved badly becaues of somethign like this?

well, its understandable really. cause the people going to see lynch werent going expecting a nice clean happy show about bunnies. they knew what they were in for, and those who didnt were in a small number, plus its a comedy show, people understand sortof i guess that its an act or whatever... at an open mic its different, playing comedy songs is a bit different cause all kinds of people are there, and arent really looking for a laugh sometimes.

i dont agree with people like that, i hate political correctness, but sometimes i can see where theyre coming from.

you should get a friend and play if i were gay. thats his best song.

i did the best freind song last semester. played it with a girl friend of mine. it was so damn funny.

and yeah, i guess i can see that argument about the mixed audience. true, true.

If you gave them a warning about the song and they still listened and got offended then I wouldn't worry about it. That's their problem IMO. I hate it when people have no sense of humor and are so uptight that they can't even relax and have a good laugh.
