Lie In Our Graves...tell me

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Matty Boom addressed college football and Michigan. I'm a Husky....follow the logic?

apparently you're not a fan of that subject. Blasphemy !

"i can't believe that we would try to be Dave

there, i said something relevant (albeit meaningless)

Actually, I referenced the college football team that I play for. We lost too this weekend. Michigan, however, isn't 4-1. No big deal.

A D-3 school in Michigan...like to keep the anonymity of the Internet somewhat beyond that though.

Orrrrrrr...you could just track me down and we could jam, football games aren't nearly as fun as a few hours of pluckin' and strummin'.

hmmmm. now i'm thoroughly confused... mixed emotions.... like my worst enemy driving off a cliff in my new Ferrari. :P

though i do love playin guitar, college football is critical to the survival of humanity.... a cause worth fighting for more than even evil itself. :P

but i'd love to jam wit ya, if you were a thousand miles closer to seattle

Matty Boom wrote:I've been playing LIOG as long as I've been playing Dave songs, but right before the band is about to come in and he plays the Em, Am, G...I just never felt the G there really fit in. Consequently, I never play it. I know it's all about feel and laying your own style to a song, but I was just wondering if you guys have ever thought that the G seems out of place. I don't know, I could just be a moron too.
Almost every version I've listened to is different, sometimes it sounds like Em-A-G, sometimes Em-G-A, and then variations of G and A...

but to me-and for the the majority of the time, out of the 3 chords used in this section, It sounds like there's a higher note/then a lower note before going into the verse...
but only hinting at the G...

(Em-'G'-A)

for the 'G' I play it a few ways... it ends up being a A/G chord,
I just go with the flow and whatever I feel in the moment...

x0223x

x02233

x2x233

(these may reflect what Tim plays a little, but it sounds good solo I think)

hope it helps,
peace

On the subject of LIOG, I just started learning it by using the tab here and playing along with Red Rocks. My question is what chord is he playing on the strum in the intro/verse part right after the beginning D chord and the C# and B single notes? The tab shows it as just a muted stroke but on Red Rocks he hits the chord first then mutes. It's so quick that it's hard to tell. :?:

Thanks

Yeah! Me too. I Have been playing with a metronome lately. HOT TIP!! If you haven't used one go to the store right now and pick one up. It has made a huge difference to my playing. Anyway, LIOG. I love the Em, A, G riff. The A to G is pretty subtle. I play the Em for 1 and a half beats, hit the A and G once each on the off beat and then the last beat of the measure is singing "When I"m...". This makes for a smooth transition back into the main riff for "...walking by the water". The song is in 4/4 time and I play it at around 108 - 112 beats per minute. Have fun.

Cheers.

You totally missed your Cue. then again, our favorite mystery friend, maybe that's just too obvious. Good call holding off.
