Gibson ES-135 vs Fender Am Del Strat
In about a week I am going out and getting myself a new electric guitar. I have already played the Fender American Deluxe, and I fell in love. But since I would be spending close to 1100 dollars I wanted to make sure I looked at more than just one. I also saw the store had an ES-135. I didnt play it, I have heard demos on the internet. Sounds great.
I am looking to play a lot of blues and rock on it. So which one, or which one not mentioned, do you think would be the best?

I should say that acoustics are my specialty, so my knowledge of electrics is pretty limited BUT....
I've had great luck with my Squier Strat. It's a Standard Deluxe model and IMO it looks just as good as most strats. It's a quilted sunburst. It plays great too. It was around 300, and I'm glad that I was able to save that money and put it toward a nicer amp.
Congrats on your purchase!

i dont think there is a comparison here, imo the gibson destroys the strat.
my main problem with the strat is its tone is so common because its so popular. if you want to sound like everyone else a strat will do you fine, but i think the gibson's tone is alot more dynamic, versatile, and gooder.
thats all i got

As for the American strat you are right. But the American Deluxe has a wider range of sound than the other strats do due to the S-1 Switching system.praisedave wrote:i dont think there is a comparison here, imo the gibson destroys the strat.

And as for the 335 suggestion, I'll see if they have one and play it aswell.

A new store in my town just opened, Cornerstone music, and they carry G&L. I've been going there like crazy to play this awesome ASAT they have there, such a sweet tone.Kahn wrote:G&Ls rock man. Yeah, but they also make Tribute, which are like epi's. Just like the G&L guitars and about $1000 cheaper. I played a ASAT (tele) with rectangle single coils (basically p-90's) and it was $1750, but the tribute version of the same guitar was like $800.praisedave wrote:arent they alot more expensive than fenders? ive seen semi hollow teles from g&l that look orgamic.jeffro wrote:A new store in my town just opened, Cornerstone music, and they carry G&L. I own an American deluxe. It plays amazing and has a wide range of tonal possibilities. I am always wanting to buy a new acoustic, I never really have that problem with electrics
Not to mention it is an american legend.

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
