Some clarification for y'all . . .

Unread post by Jenns4Ever9501 » Tue Jan 17, 2006 8:11 pm

First off, to those of you who've enjoyed my work thus far: a wholehearted, and sincere thank you. Really, I do appreciate it, in spite of the impression you might get otherwise.

Now, to those of you who feel that my "self-consciousness" is merely an act or a ploy to get attention, please don't get me wrong. I do appreciate the compliments, I do; the comments I make are merely my somewhat bizarre sense of humor (I suck, it's alright, you can tell me, etc.). I love this forum in the fact that we're all musicians, and everyone here is extremely helpful and kind, and they don't pull rank in any way. Even though I've been an avid reader for quite some time now, I'm still new to posting, so the last thing I want is to make a bad name for myself. On the contrary, I hope to be helpful and to be able to contribute greatly to these already well-established boards. As to the "don't judge me" tag on my last post, imagine that being said in a loud, obnoxious, Chris Farley type voice, as I did when I typed it, and it becomes funny, and not "weird." Again, I don't want to make a bad name for myself on these boards, I simply want to enjoy a forum for musicians. So my heartfelt and sincere apologies to all of you. I'll continue to post, and again, thank you all.

It's really no big deal man. Just relax a little bit and learn how to take a compliment, and when you get them, don't go fishing for more. These boards are pretty straighforward. If compliments are in order, they'll come, and if they aren't, they won't. No need to kid yourself either way.

Be excellent to one another.

To clear things up, this is just to clarify some confusion among a few select forum members. I am NOT fishing for compliments, I just wanted to make that clear, because more than one "straightforward" member has told me that it may appear that way to others. I appreciate the straightforwardness of you guys, and I am just as honest and open, so I just wanted to clear the air. I appreciate the compliments, I just don't want you guys to think I'm trying to force them by being down on myself. :-D

That, and I'm incredibly anal retentive and OCD, so I hear all the flaws in my voice that you may or may not hear. If you do hear them, please, by all means, don't hold back. Even though I know I'm a vocal and recording GOD around here. lol j/k

People are usually more critical of themselves. It's understandable, I'll let you off with a warning. 8-)

Keep up the great work!

 You don't have to take my opinion as gospel and I certainly don't speak for everyone os these boards when I made that statement.

But, for somebody like me who has been playing for 10 years and hasn't really advanced that much, I can say, I suck for the time spent with the six string in my hand. Also, my voice is absolutely horrible.
Yeah, I can play most DMB pretty well and I have played in bars and such on a regular basis, I should be much beter then where Im at.

And when you come along....saying you suck and "Don't judge me", IM like "this dude needs a reality check."

As I said earlier, You are a GOOD musician and you should be confident that you are. Otherwise, these guys would have told you cause they are brutually honest when it comes to critiquing.
