I went for about 5 years listening to nothing but DMB... It was crazy, as if no other music mattered. Now, I barely listen to them, probably the band I least listen to.Nitro1515 wrote:I'm on a DMB break. That's what I did the past 11 years, I just couldn't really get into any other band because DMB was just that good. I mean I have taken my breaks in the past to check out some other stuff but I always come back to them. This time I'm not even sure if I'm going to come back and listen to them that much anymore. If this next CD shits the bed the way Stand Up did then that might be it for me.jellyfish wrote:I went for about 5 years listening to nothing but DMB... It was crazy, as if no other music mattered. That's where Im at. The 1990's and the early 2000's sucked for music, now that there is better music coming available, I prefer to listen to it over DMB.Nitro1515 wrote:That's what I did the past 11 years, I just couldn't really get into any other band because DMB was just that good. How many fucking times can one person hear #41 or Jimi Thing??
I seriously have heard both of those songs in the thousands in the past 11 years. Plus, I have been covering those songs for the past 6.
Thats one reason why I ddint mind the new direction they went in, but I hope the music is much better on the next time. Because if Stand Up is the best they can do, them I'm getting off the DMB train.
Try Griffin House.... I absolutely love his CD [Lost & Found]
Simple, Good, mellow music is the best way to describe it. He writes some intersting lyrics too.
DMB will always do it for me, they're amazing
but i have lightened up lately, checking out other stuff but will always love dmb

I used to be like that... but now they've dropped a few spots on my list... Les is like the new Dave for me. Everything he touches I'll listen to.jellyfish wrote:I went for about 5 years listening to nothing but DMB... It was crazy, as if no other music mattered. Ha!. After listening to #41, did you say to your friends,wkpggrvn2001 wrote:thats why i dont play it anymore, with other people around, plus i end up just spitting out random facts about songs, the band, etc. that make me feel and seem like a giant toolGSRLessard14 wrote:My friends got real sick of riding in my car during the height of my dave phase.
In Cliff Claven voice
"Here's a little known fact, Do you knw why they call it #41?"
"Well, you see Dave doesn't really like naming the songs himself so he chose to call this tune #41, because is was the 41st song that Dave had written."

its possible to overdoo the dmb but my problem is , rather than going off it, i find it hard to get into other bands, ill be like "its good but no dmb", and as theres so much dmb out there i think i have another 5 years (its been 8) before im full of dmb.
my mates are pretty sick of me always playing it but they are slowly getting around to liking it.
however
i loved stand up.......well liked it,,,,,,,,,, but as far as writing songs goes, (ie counting busted stuff as re-gergitated lillywhites, he wrote everyday then stand up.......please can we have an accoustic, BAND album rather than just dave (everyday) or baston looping them.......and leaving out leroi to much
they will relight the old dmb fans if the put, a better joyride, sugarwill, granny, butterfly, and some new long ynk/crush/nancies style songs back on the new album....and let carter show in the studio what he can do for once

Exactly. Which is part of the reason Stand Up was such a disappointment. We thought we were getting an album based on those songs, which all have (or had) that old-school sound we were looking for. Instead we got what we got.
