No Dave wrote The Song That Jane Likes with Mark Roebuck back in 89 so thats his first song. Nancies and PFWYG were made is 91-92 so they are some of his earliest songs. And what made you think DDTW was one of his first songs?6_strings_for_life wrote:omg, thanks so much. Ive been looking for that list for months. I remember seeing this dmb set that was from the early days. It was on a spanish channel. They played DDTW, and Crush. But I guess it wasnt as early as I had thought. It was a real acoustic set. Steffan was playing an acoustic bass and Carter was playing the hand drums... it was real neat, I think on dmbtvNitro1515 wrote:No Dave wrote The Song That Jane Likes with Mark Roebuck back in 89 so thats his first song. He started writing the music for The Song That Jane Likes before I'll Back You Up, but I believe he completed I'll Back You Up before The Song That Jane Likes. They were both pretty much written at the same time, so it's different depending on the list you look at.
I'm pretty sure Reconcile our Differences was an early version of Bartender, similar to how Weight of the World and Leave Me Praying were early versions of Don't Drink The Water.

that is such a cool list...i love seein that they did the drive in drive out music so early and then the grace is gone music nearly 10 years before it was released...that is so cool...it also reminds me of my band and how things first appear, a cool jams we had, and different names of songs....that is awesome thanks a lot

There is an interview with Mark Roebuck where he explains that Dave needed help finishing The Song That Jane Likes and needed help in learning how to write completed songs in general. He said that later Dave played IBYU for him and it didn't need anything changed so he believed that IBYU was his second song since it was already completed thanks to his advice on how to fully finish a song.winglet82 wrote:He started writing the music for The Song That Jane Likes before I'll Back You Up, but I believe he completed I'll Back You Up before The Song That Jane Likes.
