i know ticekts to dmb have gone up insanely since 95/96, but atleast they have plateued kinda fairly. I still think between $35 and $55 to see a dmb show is a great deal.

Yeah dude, I think DMB definatly sells more concert tickets then Coldplay. I doubt people would go to see Coldplay more than once a tour. DMB, on the other hand, has fans that go see 2 shows up to an ungodly amount of concerts each year. DMB edges Coldplay out there.

Smurf yeah, DMB is one of the few bands left that have a fanbase willing to do that, I love it.

Aren't Coldplay tickets like $80 though?. I can get lawn tix for a DMB concert for like $40. I think Coldplay will out-gross DMB.

I got pavilion seats for Coldplay at Burgettstown for like 45. Section 6 Row Y for anyone who is familiar.

how about U2, who put out a new album plus is touring for almost six months. they did some in the US, now they're over in Europe, and they're coming back to America.

I completely forgot about U2. Their album came out last year in like November so it might not be selling as strong into January, but their conerts will generate alot of profits.

U2 tickets are $160!!! I just sold one on ebay for $175.

Well, I have been on some meds and in the hospital, but I'm pretty confident in that. Coldplay just has a much larger cachet right now in the American music scene than DMB does. They're new, they're hip, they're hot. And I think if they did a big US push, they'd sell more shows than DMB would. DMB has more dedicated fans on the whole, but I think Coldplay would reach a wider base than DMB would.

I know its all opinion, but I highly doubt it. I just dont think Coldplay has as many fans at all first of all, and also, DMB is a band that I think would pull in more casual listeners. I dont know how often Coldplay tours here, if its not very often at all then that might pull in more people, but I really think very few bands (Coldplay included) could sell more tickets then DMB.

I can certinly see Coldplay seeling out their first US tour only becasue most people haven't seen them. I would see them if they came near but to be honest Im not a big fan of them, nor Radiohead. 2 bands that have a great underground following but I dont see them selling out in the US.

I know I paid $57 for my Charlotte ticket before the Ticketmaster surcharge, so around 10% of that going to Dave seems reasonable. What do you guys think? That figure could be totally wrong but that's what I heard and that was a couple of years ago.

I think the venue will take a cut from the ticket price, as will the band. I have a VH1 video thats says DMB was like in the top 3 earners in the US. They must be loaded!

A lot of people that go see DMB are people that don't normally go to concerts. I don't see many of those people going to see Coldplay. DMB is more of a social band.
